the sulateskee wedding

this weekend, ben and i had the privelege of being in a wedding of two of our very good friends, joe and leah. we are so excited for you guys and hope that God shows His mysteries to you through your marriage! if you want to see more, you can go here

i also got the chance to catch up with my good friend, glenna marshall on friday morning before the wedding festivities began. it's our signature picture at starbucks. i love you glenna!

on another note, we want to ask you to pray for our neighbors, the dudleys. some of you knew how close ben and danny were, well, danny passed away this morning. we know that God is sovereign, but we want to pray that God would reveal Himself to this family during this hard time. we covet your prayers. we love you all and hope to see you all soon!

some fun things

today was cow appreciation day! chick-fil-a gave away a free meal to anyone who would dress up in a cow costume. lisa and i decided this was the best option for dinner tonight (we had an inservice we had to go to). therefore, we became cows!
also, this is week 18! in case you don't know, we'll be welcoming dillon thomas williams into the world sometime in december (the 12th perhaps :) ) we'd love to hear from you and see you soon! love to all!!

we're home!

so, ben and i are home and we're sitting out in this great 79 degree weather on my parent's screened in porch. ben's smoking a pipe and the dogs are playing. life is back to normal. first of all, thank you SO SO SO much for praying for our family this past week. it meant so much to us and we left there with peace. dave is still getting better, and we still covet your prayers. we are talking to ben's aunt right now, and dave is back on oxygen full time right now. there's a possibility they might have to put dave back on the ventilator if it donesn't get better. the facts that dave isn't coughing a lot and that his stomach doesn't seem to be getting better is not the best sign. please continue to pray for dave's health, for a renewed mind, and a new life when he comes through all of this. we'll continue to keep you updated on what's going on with him.

as far as we're concerned, there's not a whole lot more going on. we find out if we're having a boy or a girl one week from tomorrow!!!! we're so excited and ask you would pray for a good report next week. don't worry, you WILL all know that night!!! much love to all!

some good news!

first of all, thanks so much to everyone who has been praying for dave and for us. the Lord has definately been answering prayers! yesterday we had a meeting with the doctor to get some answers. basically, he said that he was treating dave's symptoms day-by-day. they still don't know what happened to him. some of you thought (because we thought) that it was an attempted overdose, but his doctor believes that it wasn't. that was a relief for all of us. right before this meeting, dave was not very responsive and they had sitting straight up and down in bed (basically laying down, but vertical). he DID NOT look comfortable! but, when we all came back last night, he talked to all of us, he had been sleeping, and he recognized most of us! praise the LORD!!! last night, they only had to suction out his lungs once, and this morning he was still sleeping...which i don't think he's been doing a lot of ;). thanks again for praying. ben and i are planning on coming home saturday or sunday. we have to go back to work on monday, plus, there's a little puppy who needs us :). we'll keep you updated as we get more news. peace of Christ.

update on dave

today, which i believe is wednesday, has been pretty hard. everyone left the hospital last night thinking that we were coming back tomorrow to the dad and husband that we all knew 3 weeks ago. it didn't happen. dave's breathing was a lot worse today. the nurses even told brenda that he might have to be put back on the ventilator. however, praise the Lord, he hasn't been! he has been receiving breathing treatments because his oxygen levels are so low. they also are having to do something called a trumpet to get the "crud" (as dottie myatt would say) out of his lungs. he's not able to cough on his own right now which really worries the doctors since he has so much fluid on his lungs.
PLEASE keep praying for a miracle. we want to see dave back at home, enjoying life. we just hope he does that and we know that we have the victory in Christ alone! so, we beg you to continue to pray for him. i'll keep you updated each day we know something else. thanks.

for all those who know and don't know...

(this is brenda and dave in hawaii last year.) ben and i have been in oklahoma for the past few days and we're going to continue to be here until saturday or sunday. ben's step dad, dave, was admitted to the hospital about 15 days ago. they admitted him because he woke up mumbling and couldn't even walk to the door from his bed. he was then put on a ventilator a week and a day ago. they tried to take him off the ventilator for several days, but he wasn't able to breathe on his own. on friday night, ben got a phone call (his mom) and brenda said that they were going to try one more time on monday morning to take him off the vent and if he made it, praise the Lord, and if he didn't, they were legally not supposed to put him back on it. ben and i came out here saturday to be with his mom and the rest of the family. on monday morning, they had tried to take dave off the vent, and he couldn't breathe on his own. they had to put him back on the vent immediately and they decided to check his oxygen levels in his blood to see how hight they were. they began to ween him off the vent and he is COMPLETELY off it now! PRAISE JESUS! they have since taken the tube out of his lungs and he has even whispered to some of his other kids. we are going to go up to the hospital later on tonight. we're still going to stay until saturday or sunday just to be with brenda and the rest of the family (dave has 8 kids and half of them have kids;))! we look forward to being back in jackson, but ask that you continue to pray for dave's mental state. we want him to have a fresh mind when he does come home. he will probably be moved to a regular room tomorrow and we're not sure how long he'll be in the hospital. he probably has a long road ahead of him, but we're very excited for his progress and we're very thankful that we could be here with the stover family. peace of Christ to everyone!

Ephesians and the Sermon on the Mount

ok, it's been about 6-7 months (if not longer than that) since ben went to our pastor and asked him about a situation he was in. Dennis said "Read the Sermon on the Mount everyday for 30 days and you'll have your answer." well, this is never the answer that you want from anyone, but you go into knowing that the Lord is going to show you things that a person couldn't tell you because it's in scripture and you can't argue with scripture. SO, when ben started reading this, we had MULTIPLE people come up to us at the most random places asking for money, i had some things at work to happen where i needed to love and turn the other cheek instead of judging, and i ran into some families that i could've judged immediately, but God said wait. also, in the process of what turned into several months of studying the Sermon on the Mount, a guy started coming to our house asking for work for money. well, ben is SO GRACIOUS and much more compassionate than i am, and he ALWAYS found something for our friend (i'll call him greg) to do around the outside of the house. whether it was pulling some branches to the curb or cleaning out our gutters, all greg wanted was $5 to get him some dinner. well, greg recently moved to paris, tn, and i never thought i would say this, but i miss him coming to the door, knocking really loud, petey going C-R-A-Z-Y and having to hold him down while ben went out and found something for greg to do. please pray for greg that he's ok in paris. thanks!
now, how all this relates to Ephesians, you might ask, came about in a strange way. my book study (yes, janie williams is in a book study...i know it's amazing!) is reading a book by watchman nee called Sit, Walk, Stand and it's just really slapped me around. it talks about how you have to sit first in your salvation and Christian life instead of just going and doing immediately. well, i'm a fixer, and i like for everyone (even if i don't know you) to be happy. well, this is impossible to do, and i'm realizing that more and more everyday. so, the 3-5 chapters of Ephesians talk about walking along side other believers (i think it actually starts in chapter 2.). lately, i have been overly focused on myself because of the baby. and although it is an answer to prayer that we're pregnant, that doesn't mean that i have a "one-up" on everyone else. so, i encourage you today to turn the other cheek, walk the extra mile, and go the distance for your brothers and sisters in Christ. and if you're not a believer, i urge you to look for this in Christians. i pray that we show you that we don't judge, that we will walk beside you no matter what has happened in the past or where you've messed up. Jesus never leaves our side. we shouldn't leave each other's sides as a body of Christ. and it's my new venture to NOT judge, to walk the extra mile, to not worry about what's fair or not fair, but to simply trust that God IS sovereign and He does everything for a reason and sometimes just for a season in your life. i also urge you to read Ephesians and the Sermon on the Mount for a month everyday. it's amazing what will happen. Peace of Christ to everyone.

a little teaser...

i really want to post some things that have been on my mind lately. however, i'm at work and i have some paperwork to do right now, so you will have to wait until tonight. (i don't even know if anyone reads this daily) so, for now, i urge you to read a little bit of Ephesians because that's where this post is going. more to come later. lates peeps.

we ARE still alive!

ben and i went to florida with the williams fam and had a GREAT time. i think it was the MOST relaxing vacation i've ever had! SERIOUSLY!!! we laid around on the beach, in the house, did nothing but had a great time. (I will worn you...there's pictures of my stomach...but since i'm pregnant, that's ok ;))oh yeah, we saw 2 sharks, too! yeah, meri was fishing one day with a lot of other people and a regular shark swam about 7-10 feet away from the shore! then, the next day, an even BIGGER hammerhead shark swam all along the shore about the same distance away. it was CRAZY! just so you know what a hammerhead looks like...

ok, also we ate at this great neighborhood bar that has wonderful oysters (according to pop and meri) and has really really good hotdogs and good beer on tap (according to everyone else but me). it was great! that's what our vacation consisted of. wonderful and relaxing!
also, here's a picture of what i looked like last week and i do believe i have grown since then! we were able to have another ultrasound at the doctor last week. our little baby is just moving all around and his/her (we don't know what the baby's sex is yet) heartbeat is very very strong! YEA!!! thanks to everyone for all of your prayers. we feel them and God is being so good to us right now. Praise Him from Whom all blessings flow!!!! Peace of Christ to you!

video

i know i haven't posted in a while, but this is just a little teaser for you. we are nearing the end of the Easter season at Christ Community Church (we follow the church calendar). so, this past sunday was ascension sunday. we've been talking a lot about the mystery of the ascension and how it just makes the puzzle go together. it's like the piece that fell on the floor at the very beginning of doing a puzzle and you don't find it until it's the last piece to put in. (at this point, i urge you to read the last 10 verses in the gospel of Luke...it's pretty great stuff) so, i was looking at blogs this morning and found this video that i think demonstrates the love of Christ for us and includes the ascension. so many times, we stop with the crucifixion, but as walton padelford says, that's not the whole gospel. the gospel is the death, burial, resurrection, AND ascension of CHRIST. the Lord of Lords, and King of Kings. anyway, i hope you enjoy it. i will post some updated things about us but i just don't have time right now. we hope you're all doing well!!!

some new news going on...

well, there has been several things to happen over the past 3 weeks that i have yet to post. first and foremost, ben and i found out we're pregnant! we're due on december 14 (yes, along with both of us and mimi and meri's birthdays...there WILL be one more :) so, thank you ALL for your prayers. this is just an amazing time for us. we know that God has an amazing plan for this child because he/she has already been prayed over so much. we know that you will continue to pray for us as we make decisions about parenting and what to do with our child. we will let you know how we progress.
i have been at an autism conference yesterday, today, and will be tomorrow. it is SO interesting. I'm learning all kinds of new things about working with children who have autism and am loving every minute of it. i could really see myself working with children that have autism full-time some day. it's crazy (and this sounds silly), but i've even learned to adapt some of it to petey (that's right), our baby, and nieces and nephews. it's fun. also, i found a new love for training petey today, so, beware, because next time you come to see us, you might find a COMPLETELY different dog...in a totally good way. still excited to see you, but much more well behaved. :) (that ones for you, rachel) we love all of you, and again, thank you so much for your prayers. we will keep you updated on what's going on! come see us soon!

the newest myatt!!!

i got a call at 7:15 from mimi myatt saying that ben and i have a new nephew! welcome to the world samuel tate myatt, weighing in at 9 lbs. 5 oz (yes, you heard me right!!!), 22 inches (and yes, again, you heard me right!!!)! we are so excited that he's finally here and that we get to spend the rest of our lives with him!!!! congrats to bill and mel and bless mel as she recovers from the delivery!! both mom and baby are healthy, healthy, healthy!!!!

what is community?

i've been thinking a lot about church in general and i would love to hear your thoughts on what you think church should be about. i come from several different "types" of churches and we have settled at Christ Community Church which ben and i love. I married into it, but am glad i did. however, i've just been thinking about how important community is and wonder how "tight" community TRULY is. we feel that we have a very "tight" community (close knit, everyone knows everyone and some live around each other). however, it's hard to be tight with everyone you want to be tight with. i have NO idea if this is making sense or not, but just bare with me. CCC prides itself on being close knit and having what true community is. i believe we do have true community. i'm just interested to see what other people believe community to be. do you think it's something where you spend everyday together? is it something where you see each other on sundays and wednesdays and maybe some in between or do you have community because if it you're hurting, you know that you can go to someone whom you might not go to on a daily basis.
i've also bene thinking a lot about friendship and actually "clicking" with people. sometimes it's hard to find that niche. that certain group of people that you long to be with to hang out with. so, what do you do in the mean time? do you sit on your hands or do you get out there and try to figure it all out?
it probably sounds like i'm whining...sorry. i'm not meaning to. i would love to hear your thoughts though on community. please let me know.
God bless your week.

a fun day at the park

before all of the wonderful, green, yellow stuff appeared ALL OVER tennessee, ben and i enjoyed a picnic in the park with petey. we like to take him to north park in jackson to the soccer fields on sunday (when no one is there) and let him run loose. he ALMOST got away a couple of times, but he learned some new tricks that day, like lay down, and bring it to me. good times with the peter williams. :)

we also want to echo brian's congratulations for our great friend ben hickey! HE'S ENGAGED!!!!! (just in case you hadn't heard). he and Pepo will be married this summer in Ethopia with a reception/party in the states. we are SO excited for them and wish them the BEST!!!!
There's not a whole lot else going on. we did halfway finish our sunroom and i love to sit and talk to my friends, ben loves to read in there, and it's just nice. we painted it a cream yellow color. anytime you want to come and sit with us, feel free!

thoughts

wow. ben and i have been thinking a lot about evangelism and how it relates to us, as we are surrounded by many, many Christians; we've also been thinking a lot about our lives and how encouraged we are in many different aspects. since my surgery (this is janie) SO many people have been more encouraging than i could ever imagine. after hearing from the doctor about a month ago that my endometriosis is back, my heart sank. through all of it, everyone that we come in contact with asks me how i'm feeling, i know that they pray for us daily, and are truly concerned. unconditionally concerned at that. even people who i don't talk to on a regular basis whatsoever ask me how i'm doing whenever i do get to talk to them. my friend has been in the hospital for a day with some other complications, called me last night to tell me that she WAS indeed in the hospital, and before we got off the phone, asked me how i was doing and feeling in the midst of her heartbreak for even being in the hospital. ben and i are EXTREMELY blessed! we don't understand it sometimes. the only only only way that we can describe is the shear fact that Christ is caring for His bride and He cares the utmost about His people. Matthew 5-7 is a familiar Bible passage titled "the sermon on the mount." here's what the scripture says...
26"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!"
I'm so glad that Christ cares SO much about the church and about His sons and daughters. He DOES take care of us even when we feel like all is coming down on top of us.
In the midst of all of this, we've had a lot of good times. we got to go to oklahoma to see family and friends there. we also have been able to support several friends in their upcoming marriages. we are SO excited about all the weddings that will take place this summer and pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you, and give you peace. (i'm at work, so i would post some pictures, but it always messees up when i'm trying to post, so i won't do it.)
in conclusion, i have written all of this to say thank you to all of the people that have encouraged us over the last few months. we continue to covet your prayers for healing for my body, and a larger family (of course). we thank God for our friends and family. come see us soon!!!

IT SNOWED!!!!!

i know that this isn't much compared to a lot of our readers, however, i'm like a 5 year old ready to sled when it snows!!!! so, here's our pretty little house in the snow and i wish it would stay around forever. however, it's 4:45 on the same day and it's already gone...so sad. hope everyone is doing well!!!

what a wonderful world

well, i realize that it has been about a month since i've last posted. honestly there hasn't been a whole lot going on! which i guess is a good thing. ben and i had a wonderful Christmas...janie cooked a great Christmas dinner and it was complete with both sides of the family as well as friends from the neighborhood. we had a GREAT time!!!
ben also got janie a new bed (which is WAY better than the frame they were using) and janie got ben a new stereo complete with an ipod dock and a cd player. the perfect thing. :)
Janie then got to go to denver to see her friends leah and jackie. i had such a great time!!! talk about a wonderful girls' weekend where all we did was talk, shop, eat, and drink! it was great!!! i did miss ben a lot, which made it great to come back home. we hope for the best for leah and joe and for jackie and love them a lot!! we also wish that all of us lived closer! (boo hoo hoo)

on a serious note, we want to thank everyone for praying and thinking about us over the last few months. my surgery went well and we continue to covet your prayers as we long to make our family larger. it's our desire and we have such peace about what God is doing in our lives. thank you all for your encouragement (from some that i rarely even talk to) and for continuing to think and pray for us.
i think that's about it :). i hope everyone is doing well. we'd love to hear from you! love to all!!

one more thing

this is a crazy Christmas picture that i thought was just TOO funny to pass up. my dad wanted us to use it for our Christmas card, but of course, we opted not to. Merry Christmas to everyone!!

p.s. bill and mel (my brother and sister-in-law...ben's brother-in-law and sister-in-law...this is getting confusing!) are having a BOY!!!!! baby boy myatt is due on april 13!!!! there's almost too many babies to contain it! actually, i don't think that will ever be the case :)

is it going to work?

this post i've tried to get up here about 7 times...let's see if it works!!

well, this is my third time to try and post this. we'll see if it works this time...i hope it does!!
anyway, it has been a long time since i've updated and for that i'm sorry. we have been extremely busy and really just haven't had anything really good to write about. however, we do have some good news. we have a new nephew (who was born on my birthday)! his name is luke carter tankersley and he is just the most handsome little boy i've ever seen (besides michael tankersley. they're in competition over that one:P). the proud parents are my sister and brother-in-law, lee and lili tankersley. congrats are in order for them.

(can you tell that i love him and am so proud to be his aunt?!!)
there's not a whole lot else going on. we've been trying to get ready for Christmas for a long time now and we're only about a week away. my family is coming into town tonight (i'm sure you'll see pics) and then ben's family is coming into town next weekend. that's right...we're hosting Christmas and I have to cook a big Christmas meal. i hope it turns out well. i'm sure it will.
i guess that's about it. i hope everyone else has a great Christmas. may God bless you this holiday season and many more to come!!!

i've tried and i've tried.

i have tried multiple times to post, and i haven't been able to. but i ran across this and was proud of life. check it out and we wish everyone a great Christmas and happy 2007!!! love to all!! The Year in Pictures

post-surgery thoughts

i've had many minutes to think about life in the past few days. first of all, i'm so thankful for my family. (this might be a pretty cheesy post;)) my husband has taken the best car of me that anyone ever could. i have definitely been MILKIN' IT!!! and it's been fun. but, it just is such a reminder of Christ and the church. as ben represents Christ in our relationship as husband and wife...he's been so faithful to take care of me, been so concerned about the littlest things i might need, been concerned more about me than himself and such a servant, and just been a good reminder of what a great husband he is. and as for me as the church...well, i've seen myself serve him in the past. it's a give and take willingness. that's what i've decided marriage is all about. dying to yourself at different times. however, the husband and the wife must BOTH die to themselves at different times. if a couple does this, they WILL live happily ever after. just like a fairy tale.
now, i don't say that it's going to always be easy. i guess, as i contemplate that Christ was a real man (100% man and 100% God) i see that He had to die to himself at times as well. when we see Christ as human, it's somehow easier for us to die to ourselves and to understand why we go through pain and suffering. He died the ultimate death, but came as a peasant would come. i'm so thankful and pray that you see the joy in dying to yourself when it comes to relationships. happy thanksgiving.

oh, petey boy, oh, petey boy, why must you tear up our stuff? (to the tune of "Oh, Christmas Tree")

So, i came home from work on wednesday, and this is what i found. well, actually i found a chewed up dryer sheet in the middle of the living room floor, and then i walked into our bedroom, and this is what i found. petey was very excited to see me and began running around in circles on the bed. he loves us. (and he had a BLAST today while we were both at work). we love our dog!!!! Posted by Picasa

the ultimate FEAST

well, this past weekend, we hosted "The Feast of St. Pookie". for those of you that don't know, pookie is brian denker (who ben used to live with) and a few years ago, ben, leah cashion, jenny johnson, ben hickey, and a few other people, wanted to throw brian a big birthday party. they decided to call it "Pookiefest" complete with iron-on t-shirts. they had a blast! the next year, ben was married, but pookie was still next on his mind. he decided to make it bigger than the year before. that year, it would be called "Pookiepalooza", complete with REAL t-shirts. It also doubled as a fal funfest for the kids. we had a good time, but now the preasure was on. EVERY YEAR, this thing has to get BIGGER!
As ben and janie were brainstorming, ben said "i think we need to have the feast of St. Pookie for Brian this year." janie loved the idea and the planning began. This year, we had a jumpy house for the kids, ben hickey so eloquently told how pookie became a saint, complete with 3 miracles: making a toasted cheese sandwich, pulling out a pop tart from thin air, and drawing a map of the Holy Lands (not in any specific order). We had a blast, and i just wanted pookie to know that we appreciate him and love him very much! get ready for next year...it might be as big as memphis in may!!!!

as many of you know, petey is our dog and we love him. he is crazy, but we love him. we wanted (or maybe just janie wanted) to get him a halloween costume. ben just laughed and was like, um ok. so, i asked our friend brian denker if he had found any good halloween costumes for dogs. this is what he sent me. go here. it's hilarious. i'll post a picture of petey with what we got him when i have one. until then, here's one...

who knows?

hello to everyone. i don't really know what to write today, but i felt like writing. i was reminded of some funny things this weekend. my best friend from college came into town (the fields) and we went to the big UU (that's union univeristy for those of you that don't know) and walked around to see what and who had changed. we came across some funny things that reminded us of our days at union and realized that we missed college but were VERY glad to be where we are now. we spent the day eating shake's frozen custard and then having pizza for dinner. good times and much much like college!
i also was reminded of some of my time being single. one thing in particular was a comment made by (at the time) a 5th grader whom i went to church with. i had just decided to move to colorado and work at orchards baptist. i told "mark" i was moving to ft. collins and he said "why you wanna move up noth (long o sound) fo?" (you MUST say it with the MOST southern accent possible) i laughed and instead of saying "well, colorado is actually west..." i said "because i want to right now!" anyway, it brightened my day and i hope it does yours as well. have a good monday, but not a "case of the mondays"

relief

thank you so much for everyone who has been concerned with ben and i since i last posted. (this is janie:)) many of you were so encouraging and i thank you so much!
a little word about what all is going on...
i'm doing fine. i have been in and out of the doctor for the past two weeks. they have determined that i might have endometriosis, and that i do have a cyst on my ovary. saying all of that means that there will be more tests done in the near future. we are waiting another month to do any of the tests, but my doctor is amazing (kudos to don wilson at the jackson clinic) and he wants to see me feel better QUICKLY!! he is willing to go over and beyond the expectations that i had. anyway, i could go into much more detail, but i'm not going to. feel free to call if you want to.
i know that God is powerful and His will is better for me than mine can ever be. i also know that God wants what is best for me. He has my best interest at heart and He knows my wants and needs and knows when the best timing is for everything to happen. thank you all for praying for me and for allowing me to spill my heart out. i guess sometimes it's easier when you're not looking someone in the face to be more vulnerable. that's good times. anyway, love to all of you and we can sing like U2 in "mysterious ways"

Johnny take a walk with your sister the moon
Let her pale light in to fill up your room
You've been living underground
Eating from a can
You've been running away
From what you don't understand...
Love

She's slippy
You're sliding down
She'll be there when you hit the ground

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways

Johnny take a dive with your sister in the rain
Let her talk about the things you can't explain
To touch is to heal
To hurt is to steal
If you want to kiss the sky
Better learn how to kneel

(on your knees boy)

She's the wave
She turns the tide
She sees the man inside the child

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Lift my days, light up my nights

One day you will look...back
And you'll see...where
You were held...how
By this love...while
You could stand...there
You could move on this moment
Follow this feeling

It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
She moves in mysterious ways
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright

We move through miracle days
Spirit moves in mysterious ways
She moves with it
She moves with it
Lift my days, light up my nights

frustration

Usually our blog is very upbeat and not very sappy, but i'm having a sappy kinda day. i don't understand Christ a lot. there's a mystery there that is so intriguing to me, but sometimes it is very frustrating to not know everything. part of that mystery is God's timing. i know deep down that God knows what's best for me and for our family, but i also have a human will that i wish i could just turn off and on when i want it that way. all at that same time, it seems that what you want, everyone else has, and that you are the only one that doesn't have it. it's not true, it's just extrememly frustrating. i get frustrated with myself for not trusting and having enough faith to put the whole situation in God's hands; i get frustrated with other people who get what i want, and i want to be excited for them, but it is very hard. i also get frustrated with my jealousy and bitterness. i know these are wrong, but it's so hard not to be. i have such a hard time trying to figure out what i need to do and where i go for the comfort that is needed. i'm sorry that this is so depressing, it's just everything that's on my mind right now. SO, i do need to get back to work. if you think about it, just pray that i would have contentment and in that contentment, trust that God DOES know what He's doing, because i know He does. also pray that God would give me the desires of my heart and line up His desires with mine, becuase ultimately, His are all that matter. thanks.

what a weird world

i found this on brian denker's blog (aka: pookie's blog:)) and was amazed at how everything would turn out. it's a pretty cool video so if you have about 5 extra minutes today, you should look at it. it's pretty rad. it's entitled "if there were only 100 people on earth".

st. louis

as many of you know, we went to st. louis for our anniversary. we saw a lot of things, from sumo wrestlers (long story) to the budweiser brewery and the botanical gardens. that's what most of these pictures are from. i guess i'll tell you about the sumo wrestlers, since this is a blog and all :)
at the botanical gardens, we lucked out and found out that they were having a japanese festival throughout labor day weekend. so you paid $20 and got to see all the exhibits and arts and crafts and everything. well, one of the exhibits happened to be sumo wrestling. we actually watched it for about 15 minutes, then thought that we had had enough and that we were a little grossed out. this picture is the big guy. we have several more that i might post later, but, trust me, it's a lot to take in all at one time. hehe. anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we do!

work and other stuff

well, i'm at a weird spot right now. i started a new job about a month ago. i'm pretty caught up on all paper work. so, what is there left to do when 6 out of 9 girls are gone (5 of which are the other full-time employees) and i'm still learning?!?! it's such a weird feeling and also kinda liberating. anyway, i'm looking forward to tomorrow because i have many home visits and i love meeting my new little kids. i hope a couple of them are babies. we'll see.
on another note, ben and i had a wonderful time in st. louis! we recommend going to anyone who needs to get away for the weekend. there are so many little nooks and cool little spots. we didn't even go downtown and we had a great time. not to mention, we got to see sumo wrestlers perform! bet you weren't expecting that! anyway, we had a blast. i haven't downloaded any of my pictures yet, but once i do, you will definately see them. not much else is going on with us. we hope everyone is doing well and would love to see you soon! come visit us!
p.s. if you want to see a great video, go to my ethan and kristen's blog, and watch the ok go video. they will be on tour with death cab for cutie later this fall. that would be a fun show.
